JJ Hooks Precast Concrete Barriers in Place for Super Bowl Sunday

MIDLAND, Va. – J.E. Hill Precast which manufactures, sells, and rents J-J Hooks concrete barriers, provided 11,000 linear feet of precast concrete security barriers for use in Tampa at the Super Bowl celebration.

One hundred (100) tractor trailer loads of temporary barrier were delivered from Leesburg, Florida, located approximately 80 miles from Tampa where Super Bowl XLIII was held. The barrier walls, installed in phases, completely encircled the stadium as mandated by the Homeland Security Department. The wall protected Raymond James Stadium, the displays outside the stadium and funneled pedestrian traffic through "chutes" for security checks. The rental contract for the concrete barriers was valued at over $250,000.

According to J.E. Hill president, Wylie E. Hill, this was the third Super Bowl that J.E. Hill Precast has been responsible for installation of the barrier wall. He feels that the speed of J-J Hooks installation makes it an attractive partner. "We were able to set the up the barriers quickly with only minimal disruption to the event planners. The J-J Hooks barrier connection system has been crash tested to National Cooperative Highway Research Program 350 standards. Self-aligning, identical ended J-J Hook connectors allow for quick, easy installation of the barrier. There is no loose hardware, permitting a single section to be easily removed without disturbing adjacent sections and eliminating the possibility of lost, stolen, or damaged parts.
